What this statistics calculator solves
| Statistic | Meaning | Formula or rule |
|---|---|---|
| Mean | The arithmetic average | sum of values / count |
| Median | The middle after sorting | middle value, or average of two middle values |
| Mode | The most frequent value | value or values with the highest count |
| Range | The spread from low to high | maximum - minimum |
Formula
How to use it
Enter numbers separated by commas, spaces, or semicolons. The calculator sorts the values, then shows the main summary statistics and the work for each one.
How to interpret the answer
Mean describes the balance point, median describes the middle, mode describes repeated values, and range describes spread. Looking at all four gives a better picture than using one statistic alone.
Common mistakes
- Sort values before finding the median.
- A data set can have no mode or more than one mode.
- Range uses maximum minus minimum, not the number of values.

Frequently asked questions
How do I find the mean?+
Add all values, then divide by the number of values.
How do I find the median?+
Sort the values. If there is an odd count, take the middle value. If there is an even count, average the two middle values.
Can there be more than one mode?+
Yes. If multiple values tie for the highest frequency, the data set has multiple modes.
What if there is no mode?+
If every value appears only once, the data set has no mode.
