Grade Drop Calculator
Use this grade drop calculator when a class drops the lowest quiz, homework, test, or assignment score. It compares the average before and after the drop so you can see the exact effect.
Enter percentage scores separated by commas, spaces, or new lines. Use 92 for 92%.
Most classes drop one lowest quiz, homework, or test score. Check your syllabus for the official rule.

What this grade drop calculator solves
This calculator answers a specific grade-policy question: what is my average if the lowest one or more scores are dropped? It is best for equal-weight percentage scores, such as quiz grades or homework grades that are averaged together.
Formula
How to use it
- Enter each quiz, test, homework, or assignment percentage.
- Choose how many lowest scores your class policy drops.
- Compare the original average with the adjusted average.
- Check the dropped-score list to make sure the policy matches your syllabus.
How to read the answer
The adjusted average is the average of the scores left after the lowest scores are removed. The grade change shows how much the drop policy helps or, if zero scores are dropped, confirms that nothing changed.
When to use another grade tool
Use the regular grade calculator for total points, the test grade calculator for one test score, the weighted grade calculator for category weights, and the final grade calculator for one remaining final exam or project.
Common mistakes and edge cases
- Do not use equal percentage scores if assignments have different point values unless your teacher averages percentages.
- Do not drop more scores than your syllabus allows.
- If category weights matter, calculate the category average first, then use the weighted grade calculator.
- Scores above 100% can be valid for extra credit, but they may not be handled the same way in every class.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my grade after dropping the lowest score?+
Sort the scores from lowest to highest, remove the number of lowest scores your class policy allows, then average the remaining scores.
Should I enter points or percentages?+
Enter percentages when the scores are averaged equally. If assignments have different point totals, convert each score correctly first or use a point-based grade calculator.
Can I drop more than one lowest score?+
Yes. Enter the number of lowest scores your teacher drops. The calculator removes that many scores before averaging the rest.
Is this the same as a weighted grade calculator?+
No. This calculator is for a dropped-score policy inside a list of equal-weight scores. Use the weighted grade calculator when syllabus categories have percent weights.
Can extra credit scores above 100% be included?+
Yes, but only if your class policy averages those scores directly. Some teachers cap scores before dropping or averaging, so check the syllabus.
